 Established by Larry and Vi Engbers in April 2001, Black Creek Vineyards is the first commercial vineyard in Mahaska County, Iowa. After planting 740 grapevines in 2001, 1100 in 2002 and an additional 700 in 2003 they sold their first grapes at the end of the 2003 season. The varieties include Marechal Foch, La Crosse and Edelweiss as well as six seedless varieties; Reliance, Canadice, Vanessa, Mars, Himrod and Glenora.
